My own take on Catalonia's "calçotada"

Calçotada is a gastronomic party in Catalonia, Spain, in which a type of big, long leek or scallion (calçot) is barbecued and dipped into a special sauce called romesco, made of roasted peppers, garlic, almonds and other ingredients.

On my last event I made a very interesting tapa that resembles this great Spanish dish. I took Taiwanese leeks (蒜苗), cooked them until soft and battered them with egg and flour, then fried them and served them on toast with romesco sauce. The combination of crispy bread, along with the creamy sauce and juicy leek turned out to be a great success!
